The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) is a public University, a coeducational one, located in Birmingham, in Alabama, USA. UAB is included into three institutions of Alabama system – autonomous system of the higher education in Alabama. The University was founded in 1969 and became the most popular one among all the other universities of Alabama.
Nowadays, this university occupies the first place in terms of stuff, faculties, and budget. It is also considered to be the largest and the newest one.
UAB provides its students with the following degrees: bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, doctoral and professional, degrees. The following fields one can choose among the curriculum of the University of Alabama in Birmingham: social and behavioral sciences, liberal arts, education, engineering, business, Health related fields (optometry, medicine, dentistry, nursing) and public health.
In fact, The University of Alabama in Birmingham has started to serve as the Birmingham Center of the University of Alabama in 1936. Then in 1945, the University of Alabama School of Medicine has moved to Birmingham. In 1966, the University of Alabama School of Medicine and Birmingham Center of the University of Alabama were joined into University of Alabama in Birmingham, and only in 1984, it received the name of the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) and it goes under this very title till now.
